Salted Caramel Brownies

I love brownies, any kinds, any flavors, pass them my way and I will eat them. Of course, a classic alternative brownie flavor is salted caramel brownies. Let’s take them on!

How to Make Salted Caramel Brownies

We start with my fudgy brownie recipe as the base.

Add the melted butter, vegetable oil, brown sugar, and regular sugar together in a bowl. Use a whisk to stir it for about one minuteto fully incorporate it.

Next, add the eggs and vanilla. Keep whisking for about another minute.

Last, fold in the dry ingredients: the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. You want to fold it in just until it combines. Don’t overmix it, as we don’t want to add air to the mix so that we can keep the fudgy texture.

Prepare your pan with parchment paper or with nonstick spray. I use a 10x10 pan, but you could also do a 9x9 or a 9x13.

Pour half of the batter in the pan and spread it around. Pour some caramel on top and use a knife to swirl it around in the batter. Add the rest of the batter on top, and top with some more caramel, and swirl itagain.

Bake at 350 degrees F for about 40-45 minutes.

Let it cool completely, then drizzle some more caramel on top and sprinkle sea salt on.

Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 12.25 oz jar of caramel

Instructions

  1. Combine the melted butter, vegetable oil, brown sugar, and sugar in a bowl. Use a whisk to mix it, and mix it for 1 minute
  2. Add the eggs and vanilla. Use the whisk to mix it for another minute.
  3. Fold in the dry ingredients. Fold them in just until it is all combined. Don't overmix it!
  4. Pour HALF the batter into a greased (or lined with parchment paper) pan. I use a 10x10 pan, but you can also use a 9x9 or a 9x13 as they are more common. Pour some caramel on top and swirl it in with a knife. Add the rest of the batter, then top with some more caramel and swirl it in. Bake at 350 degrees F for 35-40 minutes. They are done when you insert a toothpick, and it comes out not completely clean, but comes out with some crumbs, not just batter.
  5. After they are cooled, drizzle caramel on top and some salt!
