Whoever came up with apple crisp is a genius. It's so easy to make, such simple ingredients, but it is so delicious and perfect for the cooler fall weather!
There seems to be many ways to make apple crisp. I like to make my crisp with oats, but some recipes don't call for that.
Let's dive into making this delicious and easy apple crisp!
We will start with prepping the apples. You can peel them if you want, but I chose to leave the peel on. I used Honeycrisp apples, which I feel have the perfect balance of tart and sweet for this apple crisp.
Slice the apples thin and put them into your dish. You can add the rest of the ingredients into that dish so you don't have to dirty a bowl. For someone with no dishwasher, that's a big deal!!
Add the sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt to the apples. Mix it in until the apples are coated evenly. Set this aside while you make the crisp topping.
In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, oats, cinnamon, salt, and melted butter. Sprinkle this on top of your apples.
Bake your apple crisp for 25-30 min at 375 degrees F. The crisp should turn golden brown and the apples should be juicy and bubbling.
Let it cool slightly. This is truly best eaten while warm, and even better eaten with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Enjoy!
